About Rice

The Australian rice industry has the capacity to produce more than 1 million tonnes of rice per year.

Our growers play an important role in food security as rice sustains two-thirds of the world’s population.

Australian rice is milled, packed and branded in the Riverina by SunRice, which is the sole exporter of Australian rice products to world markets. It supplies more than 60 major international destinations.

Australian growers are the most efficient and productive in the world - producing the best quality medium grain rice at the highest global yields. Every grain is digitally scanned to ensure it is top quality, and is rejected if it doesn’t make the grade.
