Monday, 26 May 2008 The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia Inc (RGA) today welcomed Mrs Ruth Wade as the new Executive Director. Since 2000 Mrs Wade has been a part-time Member of the National Native Title Tribunal, based in Perth and Brisbane. Mrs Wade has a passion for rural industries and sustainable regional development and experience with industry restructuring and organisational change management. “We were impressed by the high quality of candidates applying for the position. It is testimony to the high level skills and experience possessed by Ruth that she was successful in gaining the position,” said RGA President, Les Gordon. "I am confident Ruth’s management experience, industry knowledge and change management skills will prove invaluable as we confront another challenging period for the rice industry,” said Mr Gordon. Mrs Wade was previously Executive Director of the Cattlemen’s Union of Australia; a Director of Meat & Livestock Australia Ltd (MLA); a Member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Sustainable Regional Development at Central Queensland University; a Director of the Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority and a member of the Queensland Land Tribunal. Mrs Wade will be attending the RGA’s Branch Meetings during the week beginning 2 June 2008 to give members an opportunity to meet her. The departing Executive Director Victoria Taylor, is pregnant and is returning to Canberra, her home base. “During her three years at the helm of RGA she has made an enormous contribution, particularly in the areas of how the industry is perceived from the outside, and in the long term financial sustainability of the organisation. She also bought an understanding, and a level of expertise, of the political processes that has been extraordinarily valuable to us. Her contribution is widely appreciated by those that have had the pleasure of working with her,” Mr Gordon said. CONTACT |
