Tuesday, 29 August 2006 The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) today launched the website for its Environmental Champions Program. The Environmental Champions Program is an initiative of the rice industry that aims to provide all growers with a streamlined process for managing natural resources. The five level achievement program recognises growers for their environmental stewardship at a farm and industry level. The program is gaining momentum with participation steadily increasing from 116 farm businesses in July 2005 to 247 farm businesses now. “The website will play an important role in public awareness of the program while providing participants with additional information to assist managing their progress through the levels. The website includes information about the program, how it works, program news and events and handy information”, Environmental Champions Program Regional Coordinator, Sandy Hopkins said. The website has been developed with assistance from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry under the Pathways to Industry Environmental Management Systems Program. The website can be found at: www.environmentalchampions.rga.org.au CONTACT |
