Friday, 9 June 2006 The Ricegrowers Association of Australia Inc (RGA) has welcomed an announcement by the NSW Government to establish a consultative committee between Snowy Hydro and NSW irrigators. “The Snowy Hydro Irrigation Consultative Committee is an important mechanism for NSW irrigators to communicate with Snowy Hydro, said Mr Laurie Arthur, President RGA, “A consultative committee was one of the conditions of support for the sale of Snowy Hydro by the RGA and we are pleased that the NSW Government has decided to implement our request, even though the sale will not proceed, said Mr Arthur. “For a long time irrigators have sought a better process for obtaining information from Snowy Hydro and to effectively raise a variety of water management issues of concern with the Snowy Hydro Board, “The RGA congratulates The Hon John Della Bosca, Minister for Finance and Mr Peter Black, Member for Murray-Darling for their efforts in delivering this initiative, said Mr Arthur.
