The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia Inc. (RGA) has enjoyed a successful 2013 Annual Conference in Griffith.
The conference format changed this year and proceedings were run over two days: with guest speakers and panel sessions on the first day followed by a presentation of reports and financials on day two.
RGA President, Les Gordon, said he was pleased with attendance this year and thought the change in format was well received.
"We had around 200 delegates attend conference this year and they all enjoyed hearing from our guest speakers, David Crombie and Peter Margin, who discussed different aspects of the conference theme, The only constant is change," Mr Gordon said.
Mr Gordon said he was excited about the industry’s future, with the average age of the RGA Central Executive delegates dropping considerably as young growers stepped up to the table.
“This shows younger farmers are returning to our communities and that is a good thing, and it shows that they want to be involved in their communities and their industries, and that is a good thing too. They will, along with the alternate delegates, gain experience and skills that will serve us all well into the future,” Mr Gordon said.
