Congratulations to John Bradford on RMB Election
11 Jun 2015 3:39 PM -
The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) President Les Gordon today congratulated Southern NSW rice farmer John Bradford on his election to the NSW Rice Marketing Board (RMB).
"John succeeded amongst a group of highly credentialed and talented candidates", highlighted Mr Gordon.
Over the past months four rice growers nominated as candidates for the vacant position on the Rice Marketing Board, left through the retirement of long-serving RMB Board Member and former SunRice Chairman, Gerry Lawson AM. The election was conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission, with John Bradford announced the winner late yesterday.
Mr Gordon continued, "I would like to pay tribute to the other candidates who were not successful – Scott Hogan, Nick Morona and Leigh Vial.
"It takes courage, dedication and a financial commitment to run for election. All four candidates were exceptional, bringing to the table a varied and unique set of business, scientific and farming skills. In my view any candidate would have proved to be an exceptional addition to the RMB.
"The election though comes at a pivotal time for the rice industry with the potential capital restructure of SunRice and review of rice vesting in 2017.
"Regardless of the complexities and challenges ahead the RMB will continue to serve the rice industry well.
"The baton now passes to a new entrant to uphold the professionalism, efficacy and integrity of his predecessor, Gerry Lawson. Congratulations again to John Bradford and good luck in the new role," ended Mr Gordon.
