Critical Decision for Basin Plan

The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia is calling on the Federal Government and opposition to continue their historic bi-partisan approach towards the Murray Darling Basin Plan and allow the Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism (SDLAM) amendment as recommended by the Murray Darling Basin Authority.

“In 2012 the then Labor Government when legislating the Plan, stated that they included the mechanism because it was the best way to address the concerns of Basin communities.  The time has come for this Parliament to make it a reality,” RGA President Jeremy Morton said.

The proposed Supply Measure projects seek to improve the environmental outcomes achieved for the Basin, while preventing further social and economic pain for Basin communities and industries.
