RGA calls for cooperation ahead of key Basin Plan meeting

The Ricegrowers' Association of Australia (RGA) has called for Basin States and the Commonwealth to reach agreement on key water savings measures ahead of looming Basin Plan deadlines.

RGA President Jeremy Morton said that outcomes from the Murray Darling Basin Ministerial Council meeting on Friday will be crucial to achieving balance in the Basin Plan.

"Achieving 650GL of savings through a package of state offset projects is the key piece of the puzzle in the Basin Plan, because it will achieve environmental outcomes without creating further social and economic dislocation for irrigation communities."
