The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) has welcomed today’s announcement by the Parliamentary Secretary for Environment and Urban Water, Amanda Rishworth, of the opening of round four of the On-Farm Irrigation Efficiency Program.

RGA President, Les Gordon, said $100 million would be available for farmers in the southern connected system of the Murray-Darling Basin to enhance their irrigation efficiency and improve on-farm productivity.

“The RGA has been the lead agency in two Consortiums delivering projects in the first three rounds of the Australian Government’s On-Farm Irrigation Efficiency Program in the Murrumbidgee and NSW Murray Valleys,” Mr Gordon said.

“We will assess the funding guidelines and speak with the other Consortium members to determine whether we will seek to become a delivery partner for round four.”
