RGA welcomes new Communications & Policy Officer

6 Jun 2013 9:36 AM - The RGA is delighted to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Stott

The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Stott to the position of Communications and Policy Officer commencing this week.

Elizabeth will be based in the Leeton office and joins RGA at a busy time with the annual Branch Meetings held throughout the Riverina this week and in the lead up to the RGA’s Annual Conference in August.

RGA President, Les Gordon, said the role is a new position and fills a critical resource gap which wasn’t able to be filled during the drought.

“Elizabeth was previously the Policy and Public Relations Officer at Murrumbidgee Irrigation Limited and is well known to rice growers in the Murrumbidgee Valley,” Mr Gordon said.

“She brings extensive knowledge of public relations and communications as well as key water policy issues, such as the Basin Plan, to the RGA team.”

“Elizabeth has also recently commenced Course 20 of the Australian Rural Leadership Program which she will complete over the next 17 months,” Mr Gordon said.

Elizabeth grew up in Canberra and moved to the area from Sydney four years ago. She and her husband are partners in an irrigation farming business at Gogeldrie, NSW. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Science (Wildlife Health and Population Management).

“Elizabeth is passionate about promoting a positive image of the agricultural industry and to bridging the city-country divide and we are excited she will be bringing these values to the Australian rice industry,” Mr Gordon said.
