The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia Inc. (RGA) has welcomed the appointment of the inaugural Local Land Services (LLS) regional Chairs by Minister for Primary Industries, Katrina Hodgkinson this morning.
The LLS agencies will come into effect in January 2014, providing an amalgamation of services which are currently provided by the Department of Primary Industries, Catchment Management Authorities and Livestock Health and Pest Authority.
The rice industry primarily falls within two LLS regions, Murray and Riverina, and RGA President, Les Gordon, said the regional Chairs will have an important role to play in these communities.
“The RGA is committed to work with the Murray and Riverina LLS in the rice growing regions to ensure the services required by our growers are delivered effectively,” Mr Gordon said.
