The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) is disappointed by Commonwealth Environmental Water Office’s (CEWO) decision to remove Local Engagement Officers (LEO’s) from Deniliquin and Leeton. Local engagement officers covering the NSW Murray and Murrumbidgee will now be located in Wagga Wagga and Wodonga.

Jeremy Morton, President of The RGA, said, “The pilot program which saw LEO’s based in Deniliquin and Leeton has provided a valuable conduit between local communities and the CEWO.”

These communities have been significantly impacted by the Basin Plan and are at the coal face in terms of environmental water delivery so constant engagement and understanding of the potential impacts faced when delivering environmental water is imperative.
