Ricegrowers' Association inaugurates two new Honorary Councillors

The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) inducted two Honorary Councillors on Thursday evening at the Rice Industry Awards Gala Dinner, the flagship event of the 2025 Australian Rice Conference held in Leeton.

The RGA Honorary Councillor Award recognises individuals who have made exceptional and enduring contributions to the Australian rice industry. This year’s recipients are Peter Draper and Neil Bull, two highly respected figures whose work has significantly shaped the industry.

“The Honorary Councillor Award is a way for our members to formally acknowledge those who have gone above and beyond in their service to growers, the RGA, and the broader rice community,” Mr Herrmann said.

“The 2025 nominations came directly from grower members who have long admired Peter and Neil’s dedication, leadership, and tireless efforts to support and strengthen our industry. Their contributions span decades and have left a lasting legacy.”

The awards, sponsored by Origin Energy, were met with enthusiastic applause from the audience, which included growers, industry leaders, and stakeholders gathered to celebrate excellence in rice production, innovation, and sustainability.

“It was a proud moment to see Peter and Neil recognised in front of their peers,” Mr Herrmann added. “Their commitment to the rice industry has been unwavering, and this honour is richly deserved.”
